Welcome To Your First Day

Surival is a shard like no other you have ever tried.
You don’t get to start the game with 2x 50 skill points or the selected stats points.
You will have to use the gold and dagger in your backpack to forge your future.

Learn a combat skill and healing. Take that dagger and kill stuff.

You will gain XP and stat points which you can apply by clicking the red seal.

Don’t forget to actually get the quests from the instructors as the items you are going to get from the quest reward, will be the best you are going to get for a while.

You start with 1 int and you will be unable to increase it until level 10.
You might not even want to do it then as you can select to use your 1st profession point into something else.

The good bit is that you start in New Haven. Plenty of instructors are located in this city that will teach you many important skills up to 40%. Since you start with 1000 gold, that means that you can learn 2 skills to 40% and still have enough money to buy a small weapon if the initial dagger is not enough. You can even get a wooden shield to help gain a little extra defensive power.

There are some sheep located to the east of New Haven. Take their wool and make some bandages. Buying bandages from the NPC is simply too expensive for a new player to keep yourself healed.

The next step you should take is to talk to Elder Duda. He has many quests available. These quest rage from easy to accomplish…like kill sheep, goats, birds, pigs. Others are a lot more difficult…like kill brigands and Lizard Men. If the quest is not something that you can take on at the moment, feel free to reject it or resign if already taken and talk to him again. He will randomly pick another one for you to either accept or decline from his list. These quests are very important as they will give you a much needed EXP boost as well as random magic items.

As you level up, you can either increase Str, Dex or Hits to start. To do so, click on the red button / stamp from the level GUMP. This will open a bigger one where you will find more information about your character as well as the ability to allocate stat points. You will get 3 stat points for the first 20 levels and 2 points afterwards. If you wish to use a bow, 40 dexterity is the minimum requirement for the simplest of bows. Hits do not give that much improvement this early in the game. As soon as you can take on skeletons and zombies, head down to Old Haven. It is a great training ground as the instructor quests activate there and your skill will increase by +2 or even +4 at a time. After you have trained enough and you have your desired fighting skill up to 50% and get the quest weapon. This will ensure you feel a lot more confident as your damage output will be significantly increased.

As you gain more and more experience, you will eventually get to level 10. This is when you get your first profession point. Please use the [prof, [profession or [professions command to access the special Gump. You will find all the information you need there.

Now let us talk about Hunger and Thirst. In Survival these play a vital role in your game play and outcome. When you start the game you will start with 40 in both. As soon as it reaches 15, you will start getting skill gain penalties making it much harder to increase. Keep this in mind and eat or drink as required to stay in peak form. It is highly recommended that you start the game by investing in a pitcher of water. It can be filled up from any water barrel as well as normal water like seas and lakes. For food, there is free food on the island in form of pumpkins, near the sheep. You can also butcher animals and cook their food. As you start as a Human the Jack of All Trades perk should be sufficient to make something basic to keep you going to start. Finally, after you have completed all quests from Duda, your fighting skills are over 50, you basically graduated the Survival training camp. It is highly recommended that you find a blacksmith and get yourself a decent armor set before venturing into the wild. More importantly… get into hunting parties to help each other out, level up faster and stay safe.

So come, join us and see if you can Survive!
